Concept

RED Horizon is the ninth car produced by Solar Team Twente. The 2021 regulations have some major differences compared to the last few years. In this edition of Solar Team Twente we concentrated on a new aerodynamical design, overcoming the mechanical challenges of stability in a three wheeled car as well as integrating all the electrical systems perfectly.

Solar panel

RED Horizon is equipped with a 4m² silicium solar panel. The car has been designed in such a way that there is no spare room on the upper body. Every centimeter is being used!

Internal structures

The internal structure gives the car the stiffness it needs. RED Horizon has its internal structure optimized to the fullest. The torsion box is the center of this structure. All forces that work on the car, go through the torsion box, which makes it a very important structural component of the car. Next to that, the car contains some ribs that maintain the stiffness throughout the whole length of the car.

Battery

The battery pack of RED Horizon is located at the front of the car to make optimal use of the room in front of the cockpit.
